What is Flyball

To see some of the dogs doing flyball please take a look at our section videos we have recently updated this section to show what flyball is:

Flyball is a relay race with 4 dogs. The course consists of a start line, 4 jumps and a spring loaded box which the dogs have to press to releases a tennis ball.   The dog has to run back over the 4 jumps with the ball.    When crosing the line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat.

The height of the jumps are dependent on the height of the dogs in the team.  The jump range from 7" to 14"

In flyball you can have  a total of six dogs and six handlers on one team but only four dogs can run at any one time.

In order to run a dog in a starter competion they must be over the age of 12 months old.  In order to run in an open competion they must be over 18 months old.

The dogs race to gain points towards awards based on the teams times.
